He loves to meet new people, he's getting used to being picked up, and loves to plays with the other dogs and puppies at the rescue. He greets volunteers when they come help out at the rescue and seeks attention from others. He has a strong fear of leashes and we think someone was not so nice to him with a leash. so we are slowly working on introducing him to one in hopes he will become leash trained and lose that fear. You throw a ball and he will quickly run his chunky little butt after it. Everyone who is around him is greeted with a happy pittie wiggle butt and he tries to give you kisses to your face! Red Dog Red Dog has been at the rescue for over 4 years now without interest. He has a story below, but this boy is so deserving of love. When volunteers are are at the rescue, he readily greets them for attention, he always wants to play, and while he can be shy at first, he is a total sweetheart that doesn't deserve to live his life at the rescue. He's a total weirdo, that can come off as standoffish, but he is just the best type of weirdo. Read his original story below and maybe take a chance on this overlooked boy. My name is Red Dog. I was pulled from Long County Animal Control on the euthanasia list. Due to being absolutely scared to death. I am an absolutely stunning terrier mix. I will need a very patient person to welcome me into their home. He may not be the dog to run and jump in your lap the first time I meet you, but once I get to know you I am the most annoying and playful guy ever. I was horribly abused before coming to SGER. It took time and love for them to earn my trust. Now I run around with 30 to 40 dogs and can stay out on the farm unattended and not bother a soul. I just play with my toys or my friends. We are working on Red dog and a harness as he gets very scared when restricted because it seems that was when someone hurt him. But he is much better and learns fast and is very food motivated. He can play a little rough and jump some when he likes you but all of those things take time to stop as we don't get onto him too much as not to scare him back into the scared guy when he came. He is fixed, HW negative and house broke. A fenced yard is a must. https://www.equineremedy.com/application-links

Rayne Rayne and her Brother Memphis were dumped in Folkston Ga in a known dumping area. Covered in ticks, scared to death and starving it took a concerned citizen and her husband about a week to gain trust and trap the two of them. They were brought here to finish their rehab and get healthy. They are the absolute sweetest two dogs ever. Very calm and loyal. Both walk on a leash and go I their kennels when asked. They play great with our other dogs here and have blossomed into great dogs. They have both been abused and when you raise your voice, especially Rayne, gets very worried. With reassurance this will get better but a loud household would probably not be good for either of them. They need a place to feel safe and loved and be a part of someone's family. They could go together or separate. Memphis just has to be fed separate from his sister or he won't let her eat. And she will not fuss with him. She goes to her bed and lays down so we do not allow food in their kennel when they are together. That is the only time he is ever dominant with her. Any other time he is a perfect gentleman. This is a product of them being starved. If you think Memphis or Rayne will fit into your family please fill out the application at sgerinc.com to get started. They are both spayed and neutered, microchipped and hw positive but on slow kill treatment and will be just fine and can be treated like any other dog through this process. Home ownership and fenced in yard are a requirement for Rayne and Memphis. https://www.equineremedy.com/application-links

Paris Paris is a very smart and energetic girl. She will go all day if you let her or she will cuddle up inside and go to sleep. She does not need to be on a farm or around a lot of animals as her drive to chase is too strong. She has amazing recall and will come straight to you if told. No cats. And no small dogs. With all that being said she is super smart and super sweet and she deserves a home of her own. If you would like to apply for Paris please fill out the application at sgerinc.com to get started. https://www.equineremedy.com/application-links

Sunshine This is Sunshine a 3 year old mix breed. She was part of a feral colony out here in Waynesville Ga that I took in with her puppies who were all dying of severe flea and parasite anemia. Despite Sunshine being an amazing mom we lost all but 3. They have been adopted and now Sunshine is ready to start her journey to find a new home. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. She is extremely shy with new people and would need someone willing to give her the time she needs to settle in to a new home. She is crate trained and house trained now and uses the doggy door. She is food motivated and her adoption fee will be waived to an approved home for anyone willing to give this girl the chance she deserves to have a home of her own. https://www.equineremedy.com/application-links

Kodiak My name is Kodiak, I came from a feral colony of dogs in Rural Ga. I am very sweet, can be shy with new people at first; it doesn't take me long to come around to kind people. I will need someone patient and caring to help me become more confident! Older children in a possible forever home should be fine for me since they aren't usually as loud and rambunctious as younger children. I don't want to be scared in my new home. I am very calm, quiet, and just want attention, love, and a kind hand. If you think that you can provide that for me please apply for me! Kodiak can be cat tested upon request. https://www.equineremedy.com/application-links

Puddles Puddles has been at the shelter for a long time and we fear she will be her forever. She needs a home where she will have time to decompress and learn to be in a home again. He is still the happiest boy whenever he hears any human. Chester is blind. We do not know what happened but he was found alone in the streets wondering bumping into things and almost hit by a car. Milly's Story This girl is all about doing the zoomies right now and then she'll get to the cuddles later when she's ready. She is one to describe as fast feet, soft heart, and full of love! She has a smile that will light up your day! She would do bet with an active family, or someone that's willing to play in the yard, go for a walk, and then plop on the couch for some belly rubs.

Maisie's Story SGER went and saved Maisie and her siblings by scooping them up after they were advertised as "come get them now" at 6 weeks old. These puppies are spunky and goofy babies, with the expected puppy personality of being curious, getting into all sorts of things, and then becoming sleepy and snuggly. These pups are adorable, and are ready to grow up in a loving home!
