Compassion in Motion: Rescuing, Rehabilitating, and Rehoming Georgia's Animals in need

WE'RE GROWING RAPIDLY

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO EXPAND!

Expansion is needed, but we need you to come together to help us build more for our animals that depend on us! We have a wonderful supporter that has purchased 67 acres for SGER to move from our 8.5 acres, but we need the help of the community to do so.

The land purchased is marsh, buildable land, and woods for our animals to run free and to have all the space they could ever need. The opportunities this land would bring to South Georgia Equine Rescue and the surrounding communities are limitless! Including a safe place to relocate feral cats after they have been spayed/neutered. We would love to be able to dedicate at least 5 acres to a feral cat colony where we could provide safe housing, feeding stations, fresh water, and safe places for them to roam without fear.

Heather Gavitt has grown her rescue from this little dream she had to help horses to something so much bigger. She saw a need to help many other animals in her rural SE Georgia town for more animal welfare and took action. Heather, along with her teenage daughter and a small group of dedicated volunteers, have saved hundreds of animals all over the southeast and beyond.

There are currently 12 horses, 1 ornery mini mule, pigs, goats, sheep, over a 100 dogs, chickens, guineas, and whatever else may wander up that needs love and a safe place to heal. Heather rarely turns anything or anyone away that needs to heal, and even if she doesn’t have the energy or space, she makes it work because she loves what she does. It’s time for the community to step up to help her continue to help those that need her the most and allow her to purchase and build up this land to remain a successful rescue and sanctuary for many unwanted, neglected, and abused animals, and sometimes people.

Within the funds needed for the land purchase, we will also need funding for constructing buildings, kennels, catios for feral cats, fencing, fans, air conditioning, and so much more. This expansion would mean more animals being helped, more community outreach, more volunteer opportunities, and the chance to build something the area so desperately needs.

With a simple donation, you can help save the lives of so many animals and allow many to have a safe place to live for the rest of their lives or until they’re adopted into a loving home. Be a part of something great by helping this small town rescue become a sanctuary for those furry and non furry.
