This dude is full of life and love. He didn't have the best start, but he has blossomed at the rescue where he's been shown love and has played his little heart out with so many other dogs. We're unsure as to how Hanns got his lip injury, but we have had it treated by the vet and he will always have a permanent snaggletooth which just makes him more adorable. Hans has shown his sweet, playful, and goofy sides, but he has also shown he doesn't like to be separated by a fence from other dogs. He will start barking at them which we're working on at the rescue, but he can be out with all the dogs without issues. He's able to be out and play with other dogs throughout the day. This boy would do well in a home where he can be reassured he's safe, where he's loved, and he will need discipline to learn better fence manners. Don't let anything deter you from this baby. He's a bowlegged squat man with a unique face and tons of love to give.

Once he puts on safe weight and is neutered, he will be ready to go to a forever home.

London is a girl that is full of life and love that knows no strangers and enjoys most dogs as long as they don't get in her face when she wants to be left alone a she listens to redirection when she grumbles at them. She plays with anyone and everyone at the rescue when she's in the mood to be friends with all, and you never find her fully alone unless she's in her kennel. She is curious, smart, and very outgoing so very high energy and needs a family or person that can take her for walks and play with her to get her nice and worn out.

She was originally posted on Craigslist, but was found dumped on the side of a dirt road with no one in sight. She was itchy from fleas and on the skinny side, but since coming to us 1/2/2026, she has blossomed and her coat is starting to look healthy again.

I've had a pretty tough time before I was rescued and I wish I could tell everyone all about it, but instead I'm just a good boy. My skin is still healing from fleas and demodex mange (not contagious), but it's gotten a lot better. I like to play with toys, soft blankets, and definitely being rubbed all over my body. I learned that cats are weird creatures that I like to chase sometimes, but my foster mom doesn't like it so I have to stop when she says my name. I try to listen, but I'm still learning,

This gorgeous girl was dumped in the woods on a side road with a friend and left to fend for themselves and we're not sure how long they were out there.

Her male companion was more social than her so he was picked up by a local, but Peeta was terrified of people and had a hard time leaving the woods. It took a volunteer 2 1/2 weeks of multiple visits a day to gain the trust of Peeta, and she was finally able to be saved.

Peeta was once a very loved dog based on how she's been toward people and walking on a leash, but has a little anxiety to get over. She is a total sweetheart that has shown absolutely no aggression toward anyone she has met, not even when scared in the woods. She has gotten along with the dogs at the rescue and briefly met cats during an overnight stay with her rescuer, but not long enough to deem "good with cats" so later cat testing will be done.

Peeta will require a fenced in yard and to not be left outside unattended as she has shown she can climb a 4' chain fence at the rescue.

Buster is a very adorable, loving and goofy kinda dog. He was a puppy at risk of being put to sleep at the Wayne County Shelter before we pulled him. He love's his person once he gets to know you. He is a little timid and funny about you touching him until he gets used to you. After he knows you he will ask for attention and addition love. He loves to follow you around, brings you toys he finds. It may not even be a toy he brings you might be a stick or the tiniest piece of trash he can find. He loves all kids of toys he just likes to have something to toss around for himself and show you when he's excited. He is crate trained. He Loves other dogs. I wouldn't recommend cats. Buster is an amazing dog and deserves one on one time with his own people and his forever home!

Red is a special girl that's looking for a special home. She was shot in the face back in 2023 and after many surgeries to close the inner hole, and nothing working, she's living her life with the opening. This causes her to get food stuck and as shes drinking water, it comes out of the hole.

She knows how to clear stuck food out, but it can be gross to some people.

Red LOVES people and getting attention, lives comfortable and happily with many other dogs, and is all around the perfect dog! She was even recently on a news segment, and of course she did perfectly!

Totally trained in everything from crate training to leash training. She's an amazing dog with a weird extra nose/mouth hole, but nothing slows this girl down or keeps her from enjoying life.

Jade was pulled with her "sister" Opal from a high kill shelter in Jesup, Ga. They were surrendered to the shelter when their owner could no longer care for them and needed to give them up. They were both on the list to be euthanized, and we couldn't let that happen.

We haven't had Jade long enough to know much about her personality, but from what we've seen, she is a little on the shy side, but will still want to cuddle and be near when she's unsure. The entire ride from the shelter she just wanted to sit in the volunteer's lap to be snuggled close since she was a little scared of what was going on.

Once fully vetted, she will be ready for adoption! She can be cat tested upon request.

Frankie boy has been in a kennel at a fosters with his siblings since they were babies. Without a lot of socialization on a daily basis, he's become a shy baby. He's a cautious cuddle bug with bouncy and fun energy that loves to play. He wants so badly to be loved on, but needs a home that's willing to be patient with training him. He's out of the no brain-cell puppy phase since he's 2 1/2 now so he's beyond ready to be a devoted couch cuddling buddy.

We pulled these babies mom from Wayne County Animal Control very pregnant. They were born Feb 27th and are just the sweetest and most beautiful babies. Some have beautiful Merle coats and stunning blue eyes! We believe they are a pitty mix as that's what mom is - a super sweet and bubbly pitty, and the pups look to maybe have some hound in there with a little flop to their ears. These puppies won't last being this beautiful. They are all sweet and goofy pups ready for a loving home! Set up a time to come meet them!

All puppies come with current vaccinations, microchip, current on dewormings and transition food. There is a contract to spay/neuter between 6 and 10 months and is required by Georgia Department of Agriculture.

Sawyer

Sawyer went from a scared boy to one of the most loving and outgoing dogs at the rescue. He loves to meet new people, he's getting used to being picked up, and loves to plays with the other dogs and puppies at the rescue. He greets volunteers when they come help out at the rescue and seeks attention from others. He has a strong fear of leashes and we think someone was not so nice to him with a leash. so we are slowly working on introducing him to one in hopes he will become leash trained and lose that fear. He is kennel and house trained, has been introduced to cats, and has really turned out to be an amazing boy. We only recommend children over 5 because he does like to jump when he's excited to see you. If you're interested in this pint sized little guy that loves attention and is playful, Sawyer is your guy!

Rocco deserves a second chance in this life. He was a breeding dog with a life chained up. He is a pit mix. He is 13 years old as of December 2024, and has been at the rescue for a while now.

Rocco was found as a stray in Jesup after being hit by a car. He had a bad laceration on his front leg, broken teeth and a dislocated hip. We found his owner, who agreed to take him back. SGER decided to let him stay with us until he was all healed up and surgeries done. He has remained at SGER ever since..

Red Dog has been at the rescue for over 4 years now without interest. He has a story below, but this boy is so deserving of love. When volunteers are are at the rescue, he readily greets them for attention, he always wants to play, and while he can be shy at first, he is a total sweetheart that doesn't deserve to live his life at the rescue. He's a total weirdo, that can come off as standoffish, but he is just the best type of weirdo. Read his original story below and maybe take a chance on this overlooked boy.

My name is Red Dog. I was pulled from Long County Animal Control on the euthanasia list. Due to being absolutely scared to death. I am an absolutely stunning terrier mix. I will need a very patient person to welcome me into their home. He may not be the dog to run and jump in your lap the first time I meet you, but once I get to know you I am the most annoying and playful guy ever. I was horribly abused before coming to SGER. It took time and love for them to earn my trust. Now I run around with 30 to 40 dogs and can stay out on the farm unattended and not bother a soul. I just play with my toys or my friends. We are working on Red dog and a harness as he gets very scared when restricted because it seems that was when someone hurt him. But he is much better and learns fast and is very food motivated. He can play a little rough and jump some when he likes you but all of those things take time to stop as we don't get onto him too much as not to scare him back into the scared guy when he came. He is fixed, HW negative and house broke.

A fenced yard is a must.

Rayne- Shepherd & Mixed Breed Mix

Rayne and her Brother Memphis were dumped in Folkston Ga in a known dumping area. Covered in ticks, scared to death and starving it took a concerned citizen and her husband about a week to gain trust and trap the two of them. They were brought here to finish their rehab and get healthy. They are the absolute sweetest two dogs ever. Very calm and loyal. Both walk on a leash and go I their kennels when asked. They play great with our other dogs here and have blossomed into great dogs. They have both been abused and when you raise your voice, especially Rayne, gets very worried. With reassurance this will get better but a loud household would probably not be good for either of them. They need a place to feel safe and loved and be a part of someone's family. They could go together or separate. Memphis just has to be fed separate from his sister or he won't let her eat. And she will not fuss with him. She goes to her bed and lays down so we do not allow food in their kennel when they are together. That is the only time he is ever dominant with her. Any other time he is a perfect gentleman. They are both spayed and neutered, microchipped and hw positive but on slow kill treatment and will be just fine and can be treated like any other dog through this process. This is Sunshine a 3 year old mix breed. She was part of a feral colony out here in Waynesville Ga that I took in with her puppies who were all dying of severe flea and parasite anemia. Despite Sunshine being an amazing mom we lost all but 3. They have been adopted and now Sunshine is ready to start her journey to find a new home. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. She is extremely shy with new people and would need someone willing to give her the time she needs to settle in to a new home. She is crate trained and house trained now and uses the doggy door. Awww...sweet Chester is a bulldog mix with HAPPY HAPPY FEET! He is just a bundle of sunshine, despite being starved and left wandering the streets. He is still the happiest boy whenever he hears any human. Chester is blind. We do not know what happened but he was found alone in the streets wondering bumping into things and almost hit by a car. No owners came forward for him. Chester is playful and good with kids. His foster home has a 5 year old boy who he loves to give sloppy kisses! His foster home has multiple dogs whose only impact is causing his tail to wag. Payton's Story
